8 FAQs

Hair loss can be linked to a number of underlying factors, including iron levels, B vitamin deficiencies, and thyroid function. Our at-home Hair Loss Panel checks all three, giving you and our clinical team a clearer picture of what might be contributing to your hair loss. Choose between a Finger Prick or Tasso / Autodraw collection kit, whichever suits you best.

Advice for Hair Loss Testing

Hair loss has many possible causes, and not all of them are related to genetics or hormones. Nutritional deficiencies and thyroid imbalances are common, often overlooked contributors, and can sometimes be addressed once identified.

Our Hair Loss Panel checks three key areas linked to hair health:

  • Iron levels, since low iron can affect hair growth and is a common, correctable cause of hair thinning
  • B vitamins, including B12 and folate, which play a role in healthy cell growth, including hair follicles
  • Thyroid function, as both underactive and overactive thyroid conditions can cause hair loss

Testing gives you a clearer, evidence based starting point, rather than guessing at the cause of your hair loss.

Choose from two convenient at-home collection methods:

  • Finger Prick Kit a quick, simple sample taken from your fingertip
  • Tasso / Autodraw Kit a needle-free device applied to your upper arm that gently draws a blood sample

Both collection methods are analysed to the same laboratory standard. Your results are reviewed by our clinical team and made available securely online.

Hair Loss Testing FAQs (8)

Hair follicles are sensitive to changes in the body's nutrient levels and hormone balance. Deficiencies in iron or B vitamins, or an underactive or overactive thyroid, can all disrupt the hair growth cycle and lead to noticeable thinning or shedding.

Iron plays a role in carrying oxygen to hair follicles to support healthy growth. Low iron levels, even without full blown anaemia, have been linked to hair thinning in some people.

B vitamins, including B12 and folate, support healthy cell division and growth, including in hair follicles. Deficiencies can contribute to hair thinning over time.

The thyroid regulates metabolism throughout the body, including the hair growth cycle. Both an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) and an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) can cause hair loss as a symptom.

This test measures markers across three profiles: an Advanced Iron Profile, a B Vitamins Profile, and a Basic Thyroid Profile, giving a broad first look at some of the most common contributors to hair loss.

Both use the same lab analysis, so your results are equally reliable. Finger Prick uses a small lancet on your fingertip. Tasso uses a small device on your upper arm that gently draws a liquid blood sample without a finger prick, which some people find more comfortable.

How long does it take to get my results?

Not on its own. Hair loss can have several causes, including some not covered by this panel, such as genetics or certain skin conditions. This test is designed to check for common, correctable contributors, and your results will be reviewed alongside your symptoms and history.
