Fosfomycin

Fosfomycin works by killing bacteria that cause UTIs and preventing their growth. It is effective against a variety of bacteria and is quickly absorbed into the body, with symptoms typically improving within 2 to 3 days.

Fosfomycin is usually taken as a single-dose treatment.

• Dissolve the contents of one 3g sachet in a glass of cold or room-temperature water.
• Drink immediately after mixing.
• For best results, take on an empty stomach, such as before bedtime, and after emptying your bladder.

Common side effects include:

• Headaches
• Nausea
• Dizziness
• Diarrhoea
• Abdominal pain

Seek medical attention immediately if you experience allergic reactions, persistent diarrhoea, or other severe symptoms.

• Avoid Fosfomycin if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, under 12 years old, or have kidney problems.
• Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications like metoclopramide or hormonal contraceptives.
• Avoid activities like driving if you experience dizziness or tiredness after taking Fosfomycin.
